Bills NFL Free Agency Predictions: 2 Players to Give Josh Allen Some Much-Needed Help

The Buffalo Bills have already made one pretty big move to try and maximize Josh Allen’s window, firing Sean McDermott and promoting offensive coordinator Joe Brady to become their head coach. Now, it’s time for the Bills to double down on that approach. FOX Sports NFL writer Greg Auman had Buffalo landing two players from his top 100 NFL free agency list in his predictions this week. One was a key re-signing, while the other was a pretty big player at a position of need. The Bills are roughly $7 million north of the cap entering the offseason, per Over The Cap. So, Buffalo will need to shed some salary in order to make these moves happen. But let’s take a look at Auman’s two predicted free-agent moves for the Bills. Re-sign C Connor McGovern (24th-best free agent, second-best free agent center) Auman’s thoughts: “McGovern, 28, reads much like his linemate Edwards. Buffalo has gotten 51 starts from him in three years for $22 million, total. He made the Pro Bowl in 2024, but now it will cost much more to extend, likely $15 million a year or more. The Bills didn’t draft McGovern or Edwards, but did well enough identifying them on the thrifty second contracts; they got reliable, inexpensive play from them. Replacing one or both with similar value signings won’t be easy.” Sign Colts WR Alec Pierce (Eighth-best free agent, second-best free agent wide receiver) Auman’s thoughts: “Pierce, 25, is arguably the NFL’s best deep-threat receiver, leading the league in yards per catch in each of the last two seasons. He topped 1,000 receiving yards in 2025, and four touchdowns in the last three games helped his market a bit. The Colts have a handful of top free agents and won’t be able to keep them all. Pierce is likely to command $20 million a year as an underrated player who could be utilized more — Ja’Marr Chase had 101 more targets in 2025 than Pierce did, but only 409 more yards than the Colts wide receiver.”
